I'll be honest, I have struggled with where to start putting in to words Alice and Will's weekend wedding. How about you hit PLAY as I continue to search my mind for words that may give deserving justice to this INCREDIBLE and very special wedding..
I was only there for the big day but I know that it was a three day affair with close friends and family, hog roasts, picnics, pool parties, camping and bonfires and lots of booze (I suspect). As far as I can tell their expectations were exceeded on all levels and they are two incredibly happy MARRIED bunnies. Yipee!
The Bridal prep
I've said it before, I shall say it again. I LOVE bridal prep. I love hair. I love make up artists and I love the build up of emotions that become more intense as the preperations go on.
Alice was lucky enough to be surrounded by five bridesmaids. Not only did they all scrub up rather well, complimenting their friend perfectly, it was also obvious that they all offer Alice very loving and close friedships, something I sense Alice has cherished and valued for a long time. Good friends are always a reflection on how good and nice a person is.
Pottering around in her rollers was also, the very lovely Janice, Alice's Mother. There she is steaming away any creases in Alices' veil in the corridor. Bless her (as if Alice wasn't perfect enough - Mum just wanted to make sure)..
Now back to that girly emotional stuff..
Erm well, not for Will actually (at this stage), as he insisted on a pre-wedding game of tennis OBVIOUSLY (much to Alice's disapproval) So, beer in one hand and racket in the other, off Will and his best man went for a CHEEKY game. I made the score love all (chortle chortle)...
Meanwhile back in the bride's room.. the rollers were coming out and and Alice was in the hot seat for make hair and make up wonders.
Ridge Farm Studios
Alice and Will chose a stunning and perfectly suited venue for their wedding. The age of Ridge farm provides an abundance of character with crooked corridors, age old wonky wooden floors and plenty of nooks and crannies. There are plenty of places to take yourself off without running the risk of bumping in to your wife-to-be which was very useful for Will who wanted to practice his speech one more time before transforming himself from sportsman to dashing Groom..
I'm rareIy given the opportunity to hang out with the guys but on this occasion was lucky enough to see exactly what goes on behind the scenes in the boys room.
I found the Groomsmen all gathered together downstairs fumbling about with ties looking a tad confused about what to do with them. It appeared they needed a helping hand.. and in walks wedding expert James (who is seemingly popping up regularly at my client's weddings). Luckily James was on hand to provide a group demo on how to tie a tie and they were well on their way to being fully dressed (and more appropriately) for the occasion.
Meanwhile... back upstairs..
Now everyone involved was starting to look A LOT more like a wedding party.. which could only mean it was my cue to squeeze in a few portraits (as one does when one shoots weddings).
A little romantic word from the Groom.. ahhhhhh (no idea what it said but she still married him so I reckon it was good :)
Seven PERFECT ties..
plus five GORGEOUS maids..
and one beauitful Bride to go... wedding party complete, time to hit the church.
All eyes on Will as he awaits the arrival of Alice. This is IT.
The ceremony was beautiful and it must also be noted that I have never before been at a wedding where as many guests could actually really sing. What a lovely surprise and it sounded just wonderful.
Now meet Mr and Mrs Jones LOOK HOW HAPPY THEY ARE!
Serious stuff done , time for FUN FUN FUN stuff back at the Jones'.
Whilst the live music and canapes kept the guests happy, I took the boys off for some secret shooting.. They just couldn't help themselves..
Dinner was a picnic themed affair and it was a perfect way to enjoy a warm summers afternoon (and the speeched weren't half bad either).
I think out quite simply the best way to describe this wedding is to say that they were absolutely surrounded by love, not just from family but their many, many friends that were there to make it the awesome day that it was. They are genuinely the most lovely couple who have the most genuie and loving people in their life.
What a great beginning for a marriage eh?
I don't know about you two, but I will cherish this last shot for a long time to come. It absolutely sums you both up... literally dancing on air...
Thank you SO MUCH for the honour Mr and Mrs Jones. You flippin' rock.
