Hello wedding lovers (and just plain nosey people) and welcome to the Taylor wedding. I have finally reached the last stages of editing this lovely day and am ready to share with you all! Hoorah.
I was lucky enough to have a very talented second shooter working with me (as I only work with great photographers of course) and she provided me with far too many cracking shots and so i've taken a little longer than usual putting this together BUT I know it'll be well worth the wait. Anyway, it's good to keep couples hanging for a bit, drag out the fun times I say and keep up the momentum of wedding bless for as long as possible.
When you take in to account the amount of time and effort that goes in to the planning of the big day, it can all feel like it is over in a flash and it's only the photos that remain to help you fill in all the blurry gaps and re-live it all again and again. So I know how important it is to take time in the editing process and make sure it is all as it should be.
Alison and Will like Elbow and they have chosen this song to accompany their blog. Hit play and enjoy!
In true Englishman style Will and his ushers managed to squeeze in a pre-wedding cheeky beer at the Alexander Pope Hotel in Twickenham whilst Ali and the girls were upstairs getting all fluffy with the hair and make up artist.
Not nervous at all it seems... (thank you beer).
I have to confess, I had been hoping all season for at least one wet wedding. I know I am not alone in this potentially arty farty observation but there is something wonderful about umbrellas in photos is there not? I would dare to go so far as to say that wonderful and rain can belong in the same sentence. YES IT CAN and the thing I like about it (once it has stopped ) is that it saturates the colours of everything. So there you go, bold statement made I LOVE RAIN. It also brings cloud, which brings us a much more flattering filtered light as opposed to glaring sunshine which makes YOU squint. End of rain worship. Hello lovely brollies...
Not 100% convinced he is loving the rain quite as much as me... moving swiftly along...
...the ceremony took place in St Mary's University Chapel in Twickenham. A first, and more local visit for me, which was nice.
The guests arrived, mostly dry thanks to the great job of the ushers and their brollies and the lovely, calm and collected bride Alison was not far behind with a VERY proud looking Dad.
During the ceremony the rain decided to clear off (good timing) and we had plenty of time outside for group shots and the all important "Nan shot" before heading off to the reception. Ahhhh Nan....
This wasn't my first wedding reception at Ravens Ait but I was very pleased to be returning. You don't get to turn up to many weddings on a boat and this venue provides a wonderful backdrop of the Thames as well as the perfect ambience for all seasons (and I have to say the staff are just delightful too).
Check out Will's fine looking Nieces and Nephews! One of which knows how to entertain a crowd on the dance floor too... but you'll have to wait for that photographic evidence...coming soon...
Meanwhile, confetti shot... hooray! I'm rather proud of this moment, we managed to get all the guests organised spontaneously as the happy couple were en route across the river. There must always be room for spontaneity at weddings, if you are planning one at the moment, please trust your photographer/s (ideally moi of course) to do this. The most creative people work at their best when they are left to get on with it and just be in the moment.
Wedding photography is by no means easy, there are countless hours involved editing, the day itself averages around 10-12 hours BUT working with couples like Alison and Will never ceases to reassure me how lucky I am to be doing a job that I love as much as I love warm toasty- first thing in the morning cuddles with my kids.
Mr and Mrs Taylor are a really easy going couple, fun to be around and Will is quite possibly the smiliest groom I have encountered to date.
They have a great bunch of friends who clearly loved sharing in their happiness and above all FUN wedding. Much laughter was witnessed by I and I had a brilliant day. Thank you.
Congratulations Taylors, I am so glad things worked out for us both.
